McKern Foundation sponsors Lifely’s ‘Netball for All’ team
McKern Foundation recently connected with Lifely, a local disability service provider who supports people living with a disability and their families.
Lifely had reached out via a LinkedIn post asking if they could be part of our Fresh Fruit Friday program so their Netball For All team could have healthy fresh fruit at half times instead of lollies as their snack.
Of course we jumped at the suggestion and our partners JL King & Co were delivering to them within a couple of weeks.
Following on from that, we caught up with their leadership team and discovered they were seeking financial help to be able to supply their all-abilities team with new balls, drink bottles and matching uniforms – something that might seem quite simple to most of us, but creates a huge sense of belonging for the team members to all be in matching kit.
‘Netball For All’ is a team of people of all abilities who play netball. Playing during the winter season, gameplay is adapted to suit the needs, skills, and confidence of each player. Until recently it was led by volunteers but is now managed by Lifely ensuring it will run into the future.
As a Foundation who is passionate about supporting local youth and community groups, particularly sporting endeavours, this partnership request was a no-brainer and aligned perfectly with our values.
We are pleased to be able to help Lifely provide a safe and inclusive environment for people living with disabilities to play netball. The sponsorship will also help the team to overcome the challenges they face, such as funding, staffing, and transportation.
“We are proud to support the Netball For All team. This team is a great example of how sport can be inclusive for people of all abilities.” – Michael McKern, McKern Foundation Director.
We look forward to seeing the new uniforms and can’t wait to hear how happy all the players will be in their new kits! Keep an eye on our social media for more photos in the coming weeks.
